Privacy Policy

utube ("the app") is a personal YouTube browsing and playback app for iOS and Android. This policy explains what the app does with your data.

What the app is

The app shows YouTube content through the YouTube Data API and plays videos with the official YouTube embedded player. It is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.

Data the app accesses

When you choose to sign in with your Google account, the app requests the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube scope in order to:

• show the channels you are subscribed to and their latest videos;
• show your playlists and your liked videos, and let you add or remove videos from them;
• let you like or dislike a video and subscribe to or unsubscribe from a channel;
• read the name, handle and avatar of your YouTube channel to show them in the "You" tab.

Signing in is optional. Without it the app only shows public content.

What the app stores, and where

• OAuth tokens (access and refresh tokens) are stored only on your device, in the operating system's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android encrypted preferences). They are used solely to call the YouTube Data API on your behalf.
• Watch history, resume positions, recent searches and "Downloads" (video titles, channel names, thumbnails and the position you stopped at) are stored only on your device, in the app's private storage.
• Settings (region, appearance, playback preferences) are stored only on your device.

The app has no server of its own. Nothing is uploaded to, or stored by, the developer. Data leaves your device only in requests to Google/YouTube APIs and in the video playback itself, which goes directly to YouTube.

Data the app does not collect

The app does not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, contacts, location, or any personal data beyond what is listed above. It does not sell or share data with third parties.

Google API Services User Data Policy

The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the features described above, is never used for advertising, and is never transferred to others except as needed to provide those features, to comply with the law, or with your explicit consent.

YouTube API Services

The app uses YouTube API Services. By using the app you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Revoking access and deleting data

• To revoke the app's access to your Google account, open https://myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove "utube", or sign out inside the app (Settings → Sign out), which deletes the stored tokens.
• To delete all locally stored data, delete the app from your device. History and downloads can also be cleared from Settings.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

Changes to this policy will be published at this address with an updated date.
